Discover Asti

MONFERRATO AND BEYOND

1. DISCOVERING ASTI (half-day)

With the teacher

Asti, the city of Moscato and Italy’s oldest Palio

Asti, known worldwide for its famous Moscato d’Asti, is a city with a long wine-making tradition. Strolling through its streets, you can discover ancient historic cellars where wine is produced following traditional methods passed down from generation to generation. With its typically mediaeval architecture characterised by an elliptical layout, Asti offers its visitors a decidedly ancient but well-maintained historic centre, crisscrossed by narrow and winding streets, quite charming, delimited by the city walls. Asti is also known as the “City of a Hundred Towers” due to the large number of towers it used to have, many of which have actually disappeared over time. However, its allure as a mediaeval fortress city makes it the ideal destination for those who want to combine the relaxation of travel with the discovery of historical and cultural sites and, why not, also gastronomic, given the culinary richness of this region.”
